Another Weekend Down

Our weekends go so fast. I can't believe it is Sunday night at 9:30! We had a great weekend. We got a lot done around the house. Of course not as much as you think you will. We had a great time at the Board of Christian Care Picnic. Everyone wants my recipes...so the food was great! We are just trying to prepare for another week of work. At least it is a 4 day week! I hope you all have a great week and a safe and happy 4th of July.
We are going to a wedding in Lewis, KS over the July 4th weekend. So that is why I made pillows so we can sleep on the way. We are going to Topeka and riding with Scott's parents. It will be nice to get away and see family and friends.

Clearance is my middle name

As most of you know I love great deals. Well today was my day. I went to Hy-Vee to get groceries (the dreaded job) and as I was walking in I saw all their plant were on sale. I got a hibiscus bush for $10. This is a steal. It is a peach color. I need to re-pot it. Then I will take a picture to share. It is amazing how the small things in life tickle us pink.

I am officially a Missouri resident and officially Rachel Kay Honig. I got my social security card and got my driver's license in Missouri. But not matter what I will still always be Rachel Robberts with 2 b's to most of you.

The week went by pretty fast. I started my new job. There were a few surprises with the job as for what my role is, but I think it will be a great fit for me. I so miss my co-workers from KUMC and Waubonsie. You all have made an impact on my life.

Today we did things around the house. Time flies when you are cleaning and organizing things. Sunday the Board of Christian Care that Scott is Chairman of is having a picnic. I spent some of today preparing for it. Allison I am making you cornbread salad. I also made scotcharoos and another salad. We are also bringing paper items left over from our wedding.

I am now going to try to make some traveling pillows for us. We will be out of town next weekend.

New Job

Well I am on my 2nd day of work for Three Rivers Hospice. The first day it was hard to judge how it would be, since all we did was orientation (paper work). The staff seems very nice. Amy (the social worker) is fabulous. I am going to enjoy working with her. She also sells Creative Memories (us scrapbookers need to stick together). In many ways this agency reminds me of Waubonsie Mental Health Center where I worked in Iowa. I loved my job there, so this is a good thing. I have been in Platte City for my orientation this week. After this week I will be in Blue Springs. Which I am looking forward to the much shorter commute.

Dreams come true

I know you are all probably tired of viewing honeymoon and wedding pictures. But this picture is my favorite picture from our trip. Disney has a new program where they have photographers taking picture of people throughout the parks. You get a "photo pass" which is like a credit card. They take your picture and slide your card through. Then you can purchase all your pics and get them on a CD. You can also add graphics, like we did to the one below!

Getting ready for last day of work

June 20th will be my last day at The University of Kansas Hospital as the Ryan White Medical Case Manager. I have learned at lot while working there for 1 year 1 month and 13 days. I have made some great friends and will miss seeing them daily. I have enjoyed learning about the medical side of social work. It has also been an expereince to work in such a big organization.
June 23 I start my job with Three Rivers Hospice. I am excited to expereince this journey. I pray that I will catch on fast and provide the support that is needed from a hospice social worker.

Married Life Kicks In

It has started...it already seems that all I do is dishes and laundry. I don't know how parents, especially my mom did it with three kids. We are trying to organize all my items and our new gifts. Bless Scott's heart he is going through all of his items and down sizing. Scott is a wonderful husband. He is already thinking how we can set up a scrapbooking area. What a GOOD GUY!

I have started the process of changing my name. The list continues to grow. I must say the husband has it pretty easy. Scott just needs to add me to his life insurance. I was pleased when I went to Social Security. I was in and out under 10 minutes. I just need to wait 2 weeks to get my card and then I can get my driver's license change. That will make it easier to proof who I am to everyone that needs these items to update their system.

When it is all said and doneit is totally worth it! It is the greatest feeling to know that someone loves you as much as you love them. Also, that they want to spend the rest of their life with you. Wow! What a feeling!

God's Blessings~

IOWA Flooding

I can't believe the pictures. The flooding in Iowa has left me speechless. My brother lives in Marion, IA, which is right next to Cedar Rapids. He has helped lay sand bags several times. My sister in-law went down town to view the disaster. My brother and his family are safe and should not be affected. Please keep everyone in Iowa in your prayers. To view some pictures go to: www.kcrg.com
Here is another website to check out: http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/25020185/from/ET/

There has been some flooding in my home town, Clarinda. The farmers are worried. There is quite a few places that have washed out and/or flooded. Please keep the farmers in your prayers as well. They take a risk every year with the weather, but this year is a real gamble.

Please pray for relief from the storms and for safety in Iowa.
God's Blessings!

Back in to the routine

Nothing too new with me and Scott. We are trying to get back to work and figure out a routine again. We have done a lot of laundry. It has been hard trying to cook for ourselves with all the great food we got on the cruise. Mon. I turned in my two weeks notice. I am a little sad, but I am looking forward to a new challenge.

Here are a few picture of me and Scott from our HONEYMOON!

Disney Honeymoon has come to an end

Rachel meeting Mickey Mouse for the first time. I was on cloud 9.

Disney's Wonder Cruise Ship

At Castaway Cay, Disney's private island.
Hello all! Our honeymoon was fabulous!!!!! We went to Magic Kingdom, Animal Kingdom, and Epcot. Magic Kingdom was my favorite park. I did not realize how big Disney property was. I thought it would be like World's of Fun. Meaning you could walk from one park to the other. Wow it all blew my breath away. It was in the 90's the whole time we were down there. So it was hot, but it did not stop us from finding all the Disney Characters and riding the rides. Disney has photo passes. They have photographers taking pictures and then you can purchase them or buy the CD. We plan to buy the CD. We had around 80 pictures taken by Disney photographers. When we checked into our resort we got pins to wear that said "Just Married." Because of these we got some special treatment. It was fun. I became a sucker and bought a autograph book and had the characters sign it. I got to meet Mickey Mouse the first day. I also gave him a kiss.
The cruise was amazing. We were treated like royalty. Our first full day on the cruise we went to Castaway Cay (Disney's private island in the Bahamas). We went snorkeling, swimming and laid out on rafts. The next day we went to Nassau and did a city tour and took in some shopping. I worked on my bargaining skills. The next day we went back to Castaway Cay. Scott and I just lounged on the beach. The cool thing with the Disney Cruise is that they cater to all ages. They had a kid pool, family pool and adult pool. Same on the private island. The food was fabulous. They also had activities for all ages. For adults they had a dancing, a comedian, etc. We saw Toy Story the Musical. We watched a movie in their theater. We took a tour of the Galley/kitchen. We took a class on how to make animals our of towels. It was so nice to relax. There was also BINGO on the ship daily. We got our pictures taken with some of the Disney characters on the ship. We say Mickey Mouse everyday on our honeymoon. It was a dream come true. We were sad to get off the ship.
Our travel home was not so good. We had many delays due to the weather. Everything else was perfect. We did not have to wait in lines at the park and the bus system was great too. I am in the process of uploading all our honeymoon pics to Kodak.com. Once that is done I will pass it on...we took a lot of pictures, so it is taking a while to get them all uploaded.
The other news is I got a different job. I will be working for a hospice agency in Blue Springs. This is only 2 miles from home compared to 28 miles I am driving right now.
My husband has gone to bed so I better go! I am loving being married.
