Country Girl at Heart

You can take the girl out of the country, but you can't take the country out of the girl. Buying a rain gauge is proof that I am a farm girl. I went to Wal-mart and got a rain gauge last night. I fell like I need to know how much it rains. I probably feel this way since farmers rely on rain for their crops. I have noticed when describing how to get somewhere I use buildings or landmarks, instead of street names. Coming from rural Iowa I would know how long it would take me to get somewhere by how many miles away it was. Now going 3 miles takes 10 minutes, not 3 minutes. And the only thing to slow traffic down in the country was a tractor or livestock out on the road. Now it is traffic and road constructions. As I transition to city life I am sure more of my country roots will shine through. I am proud that I grew up in Clarinda, Iowa. It has given me great character.
